St. Martin’s-in-the-Field has created a Paver Walkway and Garden to welcome all who visit and worship here. Central to the Walkway is a Cross that invites us, in the words of Luke 9:23, “Walk His way. Take up Your Cross and Follow Me.”
Planted by her family near the Walkway is a weeping cherry tree, dedicated to honor the legacy of Lucy Bunting . Her memorial plague reads.
A bronze bench sits at the top of the Walkway. It offers a place to rest, to pray, to be still and feel the Spirit of the Cross. The beige paver beneath the bench is forever engraved in recognition of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church Women.
It’ More than A Paver
Engraved Pavers are inscribed with words from the hearts of those who write them. To remember a loved one, favorite bible verses, special occasions, tributes, are some of the personalization chosen for the pavers, which become a permanent part of St. Martin’s Walkway. If you are interested in a paver, order forms are available in the parish hall.
Since it’s inception in August 2018, the paver project has been a team effort and a labor of love in building the walkway and updating the landscaping. God’s grace was apparent in all the people who were supportive with their donation of monies, time and help.
